Dual Layer External Coated Pipe is coated with a double layer coating. The coating is applied by electrostatic processes in two layers. The first layer is corrosion resistant layer that is applied on top of the pipe. The Dual Layer External Coated Pipe is first blast cleaned with appropriate abrasive material and compressed air. The blasting depends on the material grade of the pipe. Once the surface is cleaned off of the impurities, the epoxy layer is applied by electrostatic process. This first layer of the dual layer external coating pipe is responsible for most corrosion resistance of the coating.
The epoxy layer is susceptible to UV radiation and other deteriorative factors. So the dual layer external coat gets applied with a second layer. The second layer is applied by electrostatic process as well, but the material used for the second layer is polyester. Which type of polyester is to be applied is dependent on the pipe material and the first layer material. Once this second layer is applied, the dual layer external coating is complete. The external coating is applied on the exterior of the pipes and is meant to save the pipes from UV degradation. Please contact us for more information and dual layer external coated pipes.
We constructs dual layer fusion bonded epoxy coverind on steel pipes for above ground applications in diameter which range from 25 mm to 2000 mm. This coating supply superior corrosion resistance, resistance to cathodic disbondment and resistance to abrasion and physical damage. Dual Layer fusion bonded epoxy coatings are thermoset hardening layers of epoxy resin applied to steel pipes using an electrostatic process, which protects them against corrosion. This coating provides excellent corrosion resistance, resistance to cathodic disbondment and resistance to abrasion and physical damage.
Dual layer FBE coated pipe consists of two coating layers they are as follows:
Layer 1: Corrosion protective layer is known as the layer1. This layer is manufactured of fusion bonded epoxy which offers very good corrosion protection. The fusion bonded epoxy has a splendid bonding with the blasted steel surface.
Layer 2: Layer2 is made of a coat of fusion bonded epoxy (abrasion resistant). The base coat of FBE is protected through this layer from abrasion and physical damage.
